The Day of Infinite Possibilities

8-8-08.

I call it the day of infinite possibilities. There is something powerful built into these numbers. It is a day that can be the start of many new things in life.

In my life, I have had a couple of new opportunities show up today. I am really excited to see where my life goes in the next few months.

In history, it was 20 years ago today that the Cubs played their first night game. 8-8-88. It was rained out, so the first official one was the next day. I still remember how the tarp was used as a slip and slide.

Currently, the Olympic games are just getting underway. The opening ceremonies were so beautiful. It was perhaps the most beautiful performance that I have ever seen. Their use of video, fireworks, technical visuals, was only rivaled by the sheer numbers of people that performed. It was a sight to see. China has really outdone themselves with this one. I wasn’t really looking forward to this years Olympics, but as I flipping through channels, I was drawn to the images and am a little excited by it. Best opening ceremonies by far. The torch lighting just happened and it was beautiful. I can’t imagine all the work that went into this.

Go Cubs Go

Hit Wrigley with Felper this afternoon. It was a great day. It feels like spring is finally here. Baseball, hotdogs and Wrigley Field. What could be better? Well the Cubs winning for one, which they did today. Fukudome is on fire. The crowd went nuts when he stepped up to bat. I am glad that he is off to a good start. We can’t forget our past heros – Derrick Lee jacked one out and Kerry Wood even got a save. Then we all got to sing Go Cubs Go at the end of the game.

There were a bunch of youngins out there today. I can’t wait to take my little one out there and make here a Cubs fan. (not an obnoxious one though). I think that will have to wait until next season.
