Link Chain

What the hell is a link chain? Let me tell you. This is when you start looking at a website and then click on one of the links that you see on the site to find a new great site, then click on a link on that site, and keep doing that until your whole day as either been wasted or you find some great insight into humanity. Today I think I found a nice chain.

Started off on my own homepage on netvibes. I set this up to easily keep track of some of the interesting blogs that I am interested in. Not quite as simple as an RSS reader, but it gives me a good overview of what is going on.

Next I hit Bread and Honey. Still love this blog. Two moms who love cooking and photography. I love the idea of two good friends getting together to share the cooking of meals. There is something sacred about dining together. The thing that I miss most being over here in Doha, is sharing food and drink (or just drink) with good friends. I don’t know if the blog is going to last, it seems that the girls lives are getting filled with other pursuits.

This leads me to my next link at Summer Allen-Gibson’s blog. She is one of the girls from Bread and Honey. Her blog is called Design is Mine. “Isn’t is lovely?” she ask. My answer, a resounding yes.

Summer has a lot of links in her sidebar, but Design Boner is the one that hit my eye. Just thought the idea of lusting after great design would be fun. Turns out to be another good blog. Lot of cool design ideas/photos. Turns out that this is another blog written by two people. One of there recurring posts are 6 & 7. The two bloggers each take a photo on Saturday and Sunday and post them next to each other. Four photos each week in a simple post. Such a great idea.

Turns out that they got the idea for the 6 & 7 post from the blog 3191. Stephanie and Mav live 3191 miles apart, but each weekday they take a photo and post them as a diptych of what is going on that day. The idea reminds me of the Harvey Keitel’s character in Smoke. But I like this one even better because it reminds us that even though we might be far apart from each other, we can still be connected.
