Politics beat Hope

Hillary Clinton beat Obama in the big states of Ohio and Texas tonight. That means the fight continues for another few months. With Clinton’s wins she has no reason to drop out, even though it is nearly impossible for her to win the elected delegate count when all is said and done. Obama’s lead is just too great for her to catch up.

So what does all of this mean? For some reason I see this coming down to some ill will at the end and Clinton takes the nomination even though she doesn’t win the most delegates. The math doesn’t add up for her, but she and Bill have been around long enough in politics to know how to work the system. Some people might see this as Clinton stealing the nomination. I doubt that will go over very well with the hopeful Obama supporters. Politics as usual, so why should I vote. It doesn’t really matter anyway.

Other scenario is the Obama does come back and wins here on out and gets the nomination. In order for that to happen both candidates will be spending a lot of money beating each other up. Waisted money in my opinion. Money that could better be spent in the general election (or better yet actually helping people).

Either way this leaves the democrats in a tattered position. It seems like no matter what happens the democrats always seem to screw things up for themselves. If things continue to get bitter, then I really don’t see either side coalescing around the other candidate come November. Only positive is that McCain is the best that can be hoped for from the Republicans. I can see him beating either democrat right now.

When I look at America, I see despair. Things are bad, really bad. Education, Erosion of the Middle Class, Standing in the World, Health Care, Economy, Oil Dependence, Work Ethic, Loss of Morals, Loss of Patriotism, Public Transportation, National Security, Social Security, Racial Equality, Women’s Rights – all get failing marks in my book. I don’t know if Obama can change all of that, but I know that McCain and Clinton will not. That is why I endorse hope. I am not saying that it will work, but it might. That might is enough for me to keep believing.

So here’s to hope, may it all work out in the end.
