The Player

Just watched a good movie. The Player is a fun little movie filled with the Hollywood elite. It is interesting how a clearly Hollywood movie can translate to the rest of the country. Don’t know how true the reality of the town is, but it fits enough for me.

They just flashed a quote from Thoreau “Things don’t change; we do.” Man what a sentiment. Much better that Michael Jackson. I guess that I need to think more about the world.

Someone that is thinking about the world is my friend Meghan Weimer. You can check her out at her blog. She thinks before she blogs. I guess that I could learn something from her.

A Chief, a Chef, and the Godfather

RIP Gerald Ford – When I was growing up, I had a republican leaning and I always respected the how honorable this man was. It took a lot of guts to pardon the former president. It cost him a lot, but did a lot of good for the country. I wish that there were people like him in government.

RIP Chef Ra – He was a character that everyone knew in Champaign. He set an example of a man who was willing to follow his own path.

RIP James Brown – Already mentioned his passing.

If there is a heaven, I would like to see the three of them together.

Damn Rogue

Found a Mac version of the old school game Rogue. I have been playing all day. Damn game. When I was in high school I used to play everyday in the library. Good times. Great time waster.

My friend Virginia is making a big move. I admire the jump off the cliff attitude. It inspires me to get out of the routine, too.

Merry Christmas

Just past midnight, so it is officially Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone.

I always like this week between Christmas and the New Year. It is a good time for thinking, reflecting and making plans for the future.

Just got my Horoscope for today. At the end it mentions a Lincoln quote. “We can choose to be happy.” That seems like a good choice.

And the Bears won against the Lions today. Doesn’t mean much, but it is still good to see them win. One more regular season game and then the playoffs. They might have something special this year.

3 Women and some T-Ball

Three good women were in my life today. Had lunch with Mary and her husband Larry. I owed her a lunch for her birthday (it was a couple of weeks ago.) Emily was down from up north. Didn’t get to see her for very long, but I value any time I get to see her. Then went into work and saw Virginia. She is becoming more and more like a sister every day. Nice to have someone like that around.

Set up the T the other day and took a big swing. Missed the ball completely, hit the stand, spun around, fell on my ass, and the ball hit me in the head. Sometimes games and life are not as easy as you think they might be.

That is my Doogie Howser like log for the night.

Merry Winter

Winter is finally here. Longest night of the year. About time. Weather still doesn’t know it is winter yet. It was in the upper 40’s today and kind of rainy.

Winter gets some people down, but for me it always seems like a good time to me. The snow seems to wipe out all of the bad things that have happened in the world, and with the new year coming, it is a new chance on good things coming for the future.

And a little comment on Rosie O’Donnell. Hate her.

Pies, Dining and Dancing

I am a big fan of food in general, but I believe that pie may be the finest of all food. Either that or fresh squeezed orange juice.

Watched Iconoclast tonight. They had Mikhail Baryshnikov, dancer, and Alice Waters, chef and organic food champion. The two of those arts are very intimate to me. Food may be my favorite thing, but sharing food with good people is even better. Sharing a meal brings people closer, although sharing with someone that you don’t like can bring the whole enjoyment of the meal down. I have always wanted to have a home where I could host great meals with interesting people. I thought about it as a TV show, but even just a weekly thing would be enjoyable to me. Even the act of cooking is a great thing to share. It is amazing how far away from that that I and most Americans have gotten. Too much fast food eaten alone.

Dance is another thing that has always fascinated me. I have issues with getting close to people, and dislike being touched by all but the closest of my friends. Something about it seems like it should be reserved for only intimate people. Dancing intrigues me because it is necessary to touch, to hold, to be close. I love do dance, but seldom do it, and don’t really know how to anyway. I have always felt that I need to get over my touching issues, and dance may be the way to do it.

Tie Guy

I have decided that I will wear ties from now on. I used to wear ties back in the day, but I realized that it has been 8 years since I have had one on. That is going to change.

Person of the Year

Man it has been a good year for me. I just found out that I am the new Time “Person of the Year.” I knew that things were going well, but I had no idea. I just have to say thanks to all of you for helping me in such achievement.

I have decided that I want to make 2007 an even better year. If you notice I have a list of Life Goals listed to the left side of this blog. I would like to accomplish as many of these as possible in the next year. There are going to be a few are going to be difficult, but I want to give them a try. (except maybe the get married to a good woman one, that could probably wait a little while – unless you know of any good women who want to get married). My friend Mike is getting his own place in Italy. Maybe I can visit him and knock off my visit to Europe and the Eiffel Tower ones. Searching for Something will be my interview show (maybe I’ll get an interview with Obama). Video Vinyl will be my national TV show. Who knows about Sandra Bullock. I’ll have to check into the Sundance thing. Might be too late for that. Not an election year so it will be hard to vote for someone worthy. I always have faith in the Cubs, but you never know. Other than those, it looks like a pretty fun year. If you know anyone who can help with any of these goals let me know. Thanks.

Forgot to mention: Bears win in overtime and clinch home field throughout the playoffs. Sweet.
