I was so upset that I started a new blog last night. StopTeachingRacism.com I hate working for a University that allows such racism to continue to exist on their campus. Like I mentioned, I have never felt much on the issue, but it is finally getting to me. I don’t know what is causing me to take a wider interest in the larger world. I guess that looking inward has also cause me to look at how I fit into this world. If there are things that I don’t like about it, then it is up to me to make a change. I truly believe that one person can make a difference.

Also had a video group meeting tonight. That went well, but a lot of the participants were working the basketball game so they were unable to attend.

Chancellor Richard Herman sent out a email to the staff at the University of Illinois. There have been problems on campus with racism toward Native Americans. One part talks about the university having a zero tolerance policy toward racism.

To all members of the campus community I ask that you think seriously about what you can do to help build a campus climate with zero tolerance for racism and hate. Everyone has a role. We should expect nothing less from ourselves

I have to wonder if he includes not having a racist mascot in his policy. I don’t see how the university can find it surprising that there is racism on a campus that promotes that same racism. The Chief is a racist mascot that needs to go. Everyone knows that it has passed its time and will eventually be replaced. Might as well make the move now.

Apple released their iPhone today (well it ships in June). Nice phone, but really expensive, and they didn’t even talk about their computers. They even changed their name to Apple, Inc. from Apple Computer, Inc. I am worried that they will be spending too much time on their other stuff and maybe neglect the core that made them what they are.

Mac World Keynote is only 7 hours away. Can’t wait to see what is new in the Macintosh world. Don’t know what to expect. I would like an 8 core mac pro, but will probably only see a cel phone.

Feeling better today. Right now I am watching Roadtrip Nation (really hate this show, but love the idea). They visited a couple who biked around the world. They looked at it as a pilgrimage. I like the idea of getting out and wandering. It seems like I need to take a break before I can start anew. There are many stories of a journey before one can become what they are to become.

It is more than just an exploration in physical space. It is also a time for Self Exploration. Last year I made a trip to Denver. It was a nice time to get things settled in my head. I think that I am in need of a new journey, and then I will be ready for a new beginning.

Still have the cold. I slept for 14 hours last night. Man I was tired. I have a lot of stuff to get done, but it is hard to do when I am not feeling well.

The weather outside is beautiful, but I am stuck inside with a nasty cold. I hate colds. Just trying to rest up and get over it as soon as I can.

This is the make it or break it year. I am ready to make the big decisions. I have all of the knowledge to get started, a little money to keep me going, and a lot of good ideas. Bring it on.

My New Year’s resolution is to accomplish as many of my Life Goals as I can. That, and to have a good time. Life, no matter how long you live, is short.

Went the the Lorenzo Goetz final show last night. I can’t think of a better way to end 2006. Their best show. Man it was a good night. A little less drinking than the night before. It was a night of mixed emotions. They have given me so many good nights of entertainment. They will be missed. I am sure that with all of their talents that each will go on to other things.

Now it is on to 2007.

Had a good night tonight. Went to the Lorenzo Goetz show tonight. Also Santa, Brandon T. and Andy Lund, and Elsinore. Man it was a great time. Good times were had by me if no one else.

Went to Cracker Barrel with Jason. It was his birthday. I think good things are in store for him in 2007.

I look back on 2006 and think that it was good, but I expect 2007 to be even better.
