Borat, Great Music

Went out tonight with Jason. He just left his job, so it was a nice night to get out. Went to see Borat. It was a funny movie, but not a greatly funny movie. It just goes to show how few funny movies there are if this is getting such a great turnout. The jokes were pretty low brow. I like a little more thought in my comedies.

Then we went to the Triple Whip CD release party. Night starts off with Lucky Mullholland. I had never seen Brian with a backing band. It was great to see him with the full sound that is on his recorded work. He seemed to be more at ease with the company also. The crowd was great and showed a lot of love. Next up was The New Ruins. I had never heard them before. I liked the sound, but the vocals were a little garbled. Triple Whip came up next at 11:11 on Nov. 11th. Holly and Jane are wonderful. I don’t even remember what it was like with Santanu. Love the way Holly plays base, and Jane is a monster behind the drum kit. Sometimes she would just close her eyes and go. I picked up the CD, but haven’t had a chance to listen to it. I hope that it captures their live sound. Last up came Water Between Continents. I haven’t seen them in a while, but I was glad that I stayed for them tonight. Love the play between Brian and Nick. They seemed like they were having a fun time up there.
