Love Train

Took a trip to downtown on the Blue Line today and was surprised to see four couples just making out. They were all kids, maybe high school or early college. I can’t tell the difference between them any more. They all just look so young.

Made me thing of the song “Love Train” which in turn made me think of the gap commercial from a few years ago and then when I was looking for that I found the Will Ferrell gap commercial. Here they all are in a video bonus for the week.

Class tonight

Had the second writing class of the term tonight. Andy Eninger is our teacher (he was my improv A teacher as well). I really love working with him. He even made us do a improv warm-up for a writing class. I don’t think that it really helped tonight because a lot of the people were pretty low key. I know I was still pretty hung over from last night. We also did a little more involved readings for all of the sketches. I like the movement involved in them. I have always felt that it is hard to judge stuff that is supposed to be performed by reading it. It also makes you think about how it plays on stage.

Next week’s sketch assignment is based on a historical event. I am thinking a Lincoln event, but not sure. Maybe a song involved too.

Doc and Show

Went to the doc to get my lab results and a physical. I felt like I hadn’t been taking very good care of myself the last few months. The numbers weren’t as good as they were in August, but the doc was pretty happy with everything. Said I was one of his best diabetes patients. Not too much of a compliment when you think about how badly most people are with their care. So all in all in a time of my worst control I turned out to be taking pretty good care of myself. I am glad that I am on top of it a little more now.

We Get To Be Canadians is going great. It was a metromix pick of the night. Pretty nice for our first production. I was a little worried that we might have a drop off of people at the show, but we had a really good turnout of 33 people.

Drunk

Drum of the Covenant

Just watched a program on the History Channel that premised that the Ark of the Covenant. Although it doesn’t fit with a lot of the descriptions, I do like the idea of the most sacred of artifacts being a drum. I have always thought that the beat of a drum can bring about a religious experience. Maybe it is just the rhythm remind us of our own heartbeat, our life force, or maybe it is just the fact that it brings out the dance in me.

How about we all get this year started by getting together and making some noise? Sounds like a good plan.

Spring?

Good Friday, First Day of Spring and we get snow. Snowed for the first part of the day and cover the city with a few inches of the white stuff. The rest of the day was just a little above freezing so it was pretty sloshy.

I stuck inside all day resting my foot. It was still nagging me a little after many days. I figured that it was just because I haven’t been off it as much as I should.

Obama “A Perfect Union”

A lot of controversy came up over some words of Barack Obama’s pastor. Some people are even calling him a racist. I have known for some time that race is a divisive issue in the US, but I was not prepared for it to be this bad. I was shocked at first, how could things get like this?

I have just listened to Obama’s speech about these comments and race in general. Now I am glad that these things came up, and that maybe a start of a real discussion about race can take place. I am rather disappointed about how the media is portraying it, as just a way to quash the recent hubbub. It can be something more than that. If we want it to, it can be the beginning of an actual change in attitudes. Wouldn’t that be something?

Here is the youtube video if you want to watch it for yourself.

Try Again

Didn’t really like the plugin that I was using in the last post, but I did like the flickr photo option. I found a plugin that would just allow that feature but not anything else. So let’s see a cool picture.
